Test Drive: 1975 Triumph Spitfire SOLD at the Sun Valley Auto Club
Named after the famed Battle of Britain fighter plane, the early Spitfire’s is not only beautiful, it is a blast to drive. The Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti gave it it's good looks and the British engineered its underpinnings. All Spitfires are attractive, inexpensive to maintain, easy to find parts for and offer a great deal of fun for the money. Their high production numbers also mean that examples are relatively simple to locate. This one is finished in white and upon close inspection you will notice some paint issues. But over all the rust is minimal and one could look past the paint and just have fun behind the wheel. This being the Mk IV has the 1500cc engine. It starts right up and sounds good. It shifts through the gears well and stops straight and true. The top does function properly and the mechanics are solid however, it will need to be re-lined. Or just roll with the teannu cover. On that note there are two extra sets of seat covers for you to choose from. There are cracks in the dash and the drivers seat has split at the seam. Look past that and you'll have a lot of fun for a small amount of money. Come on over to the Sun Valley Auto Club to check it out or give Shep a call at 208-721-1973.
