Did you know how much horsepower the world's largest engine has? The Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C is a massive, 14-cylinder, diesel engine. Its total engine capacity amounts to a staggering 25,480 liters, equating to 1820 liters per cylinder. It measures over 27 meters in length and over 13 meters in height, weighing 2300 tons. It's primarily utilized to power the largest cargo ships and tankers. Depending on specifications, the engine can cost up to $20 million, with its construction taking from several months to a year. Despite consuming 14 tons of fuel per hour, it's highly efficient and meets Tier III IMO emission standards. Boasting nearly 109,000 horsepower and 7.6 million pound-feet of torque, this engine is an engineering marvel.
