Honda Everus VE 1 Is The Cheapest EV With a Decent Range

Everus
youtube

Honda starts selling the Everus VE-1 electric car, which is priced at $23,000 and comes with 200 miles of range. Honda Everus VE-1 will be sold in China and is based on the Honda HR-V subcompact crossover. The Everus VE-1 is produced by Honda’s joint venture with GAC automotive, GAC Honda. Honda Everus VE-1 features a decent electric powertrain with a 53.6 kWh battery pack and a 120 kW electric motor. This engine can deliver a range of 211 miles. But since Everus VE-1’s range is based on the NEDC standard and buyers should expect a significantly lower real-world range. If you take a closer look you will see how the VE-1 closely resembles Honda's HR-V subcompact crossover. Who knows, maybe one day Honda uses this as a base and introduces an HR-V crossover with a much longer range in the US market. This is very welcome news from Honda, since until recently the Japanese carmaker was focusing on hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. If you are outside of China, the company is apparently working on an affordable Fit based EV, which is reportedly being made with one of the biggest Chinese battery makers. This new car reportedly is going to have a lower price. Please, comment below and let us know what you think about the Everus VE-1 and its price as well as what you think if Honda is taking the EV market seriously. About This Footage

The Honda Everus VE-1 is making waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market, and for good reason. This subcompact crossover, priced at a remarkably affordable $23,000, boasts an impressive 200 miles of range on a single charge. What's more, its electric powertrain features a 53.6 kWh battery pack and a 120 kW motor, delivering a respectable 211 miles of range under the NEDC standard.

The VE-1's most striking feature, however, is its price point. At $23,000, it becomes the cheapest EV on the market with a decent range. This is significant, as it signals Honda's commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible to the masses. Until recently, the Japanese automaker had been focusing on hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, but it appears they are now taking the EV market seriously.

The VE-1's resemblance to the Honda HR-V subcompact crossover is another notable aspect of this vehicle. While some may see it as a mere rebadging exercise, others will appreciate the familiarity and shared DNA with one of Honda's most popular models. The question on everyone's mind, however, is whether this design language will be adopted for other markets, including the US.

One can't help but wonder if the VE-1's platform could be used as a basis for an HR-V crossover with a longer range in the US market. If so, it would be a significant step forward for Honda and a much-needed addition to their EV lineup. The fact that they are reportedly working on an affordable Fit-based EV, made in collaboration with one of China's largest battery makers, suggests that they are serious about expanding their EV offerings.

The Everus VE-1 is not just a notable entry into the EV market; it's also a testament to Honda's ability to adapt and innovate. By partnering with GAC automotive through their joint venture, GAC Honda, they have managed to create an affordable and capable electric vehicle that is poised to make waves in China.

The footage of the VE-1 in action is brief but telling, showcasing its sleek design and impressive range. While it's clear that the real-world range may be lower than the NEDC standard suggests, 200 miles is still a respectable figure for an EV at this price point.

As the world continues to transition towards electric vehicles, it's exciting to see Honda taking steps to play catch-up. The Everus VE-1 is a significant development in their EV strategy, and one that should be closely watched by industry insiders and enthusiasts alike. With its affordable price, decent range, and shared DNA with the HR-V, this subcompact crossover has all the makings of a hit.
