Beginner tips for Gaia GPS (Overlanding & Apple Car Play)

Like many of you that have tried using Gaia, I feel that there's a lot of mystery behind it. We have heard that it's powerful offline GPS software, but how the heck do we go about using it successfully? My first attempt was during the 130 mile Mojave road overlanding trail... it didn't work. Another attempt was in Death Valley National Park... No luck there either. Did anyone ever tell you that you have to pay to download an offline map? Yeah! That's something that you should probably know right off the bat right? After you gain the ability to download offline maps... how do you actually do it? There's multiple ways to download? I "can create an area" or "map download"... which one should I choose? To help answer these many questions, I have put together some BEGINNER TIPS FOR GAIA GPS. Keep in mind, I'm not an expert and I'm not associated with Gaia in any way. At this stage, I think I have a pretty good understanding of how Gaia can enhance my overlanding and outdoor adventures.
