On this occasion, Chevrolet released a set of teasers that preview an imminent Niva concept, while last time the images were considerably more vague. The vehicle has been in production for quite some time and now it’s time for a new development. The Chevrolet Niva concept is scheduled to make its debut next week, at the Moscow International Motor Show 2014. Once again, we are showing you a series of serious offroading elements. From a snorkel and headlight protection to a roof-mounted cargo basket that comes with extra lights and holds a spare wheel, this vehicle means rough terrain business. Its tires alone are enough indication that the car aims to take the Chevrolet Niva’s offroading reputation even further. Sure, the production model will lose a part of the boldness, but we get the general idea. Over in Europe or America, people don't take crossovers and SUVs too far off the road, but the poor asphalt in Russia means the rugged terrain capacities are important. Under the hood, we’ll find a 1.8-liter petrol unit borrowed from Peugeot, with the engine delivering 135 hp. A manual gearbox will come in standard, but an automatic will be offered as an option. The basic models will use front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive will obivously be an option. Chevrolet may be on track to whitdraw from Europe in 2015, but the carmaker will continue to operate in Russia and other markets. Thus, the new Chevrolet Niva is scheduled to hit the market in 2016.
