BMW is launching its long-awaited first mass-produced electric model: the i3. It is the first car from a new series, designed to appeal to a new target group. The i3 has a theoretical range of around 150-160 kilometers, but in real life 120-130 seems more manageable. The car can also be equipped with an optional petrol range extender. However unlike most other electric cars, BMW i3 is fast and relatively fun to drive on European roads. It might not be the Isetta everyone thought it would be, but this could be the future of mobility. On 17 April BMW i3 received two awards: - 2014 World Car Design of the Year - 2014 World Green Car as part of the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) programme.
