Nintendo vs. Galoob Game Genie Lawsuit 1992 Exhibit F: Peripheral Misuse

(Warning: Rapid flashing images.) This is a VHS tape that was prepared by Galoob and submitted as evidence in its defense against the Game Genie lawsuit brought by Nintendo in 1992. Many details about the Game Genie case are not available online, so most people are not aware that the NES Advantage joystick played a huge role in the proceedings. As explained to the court in this video, the Advantage could make games easier, harder or even impossible to play, which made Nintendo seem hypocritical after it had objected to the Game Genie doing these same things. Later, after the court ruled in favor of Galoob, sales figures for the Advantage were used to estimate the amount of revenue that Galoob lost when Nintendo filed an injunction to prevent the Game Genie from being sold. The damages awarded were based on the market penetration that the Advantage had achieved!
