Here’s how the Ford Aerostar tried to unseat Chrysler for the title of best minivan

Use this link to get your discount: https://www.carcover.com/?via=MyOldCar In this episode I provide the history of the Aerostar, Ford's first minivan, made to compete against the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager from Chrysler, but was more in common with the Chevy Astro/GMC Safari vans since they were more truck based. The Aerostar was supposed to be replaced by the Windstar in 1995, but outcry from fans kept the Aerostar in production for three overlapping years with the Windstar. The Windstar had two generations, followed by a third where it was renamed the Freestar, but was discontinued in 2007 with Chrysler's vans still outselling them in a shrinking minivan market.
