About This Footage

The Delage D12's inaugural outing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is a significant moment in modern automotive history, and this 2:01 clip captures the essence of that occasion. The footage showcases the car's first official laps on track, marking a new chapter for the iconic French luxury brand.

Delage's rich heritage dates back to 1905 when Louis Delâge founded the company in Levallois-Perret near Paris. Over the years, the marque has undergone significant changes, including its acquisition by Delahaye in 1935 and eventual cessation of operations in 1953. However, a new incarnation was born in 2019 with the announcement that "Les Amis de Delage" had acquired the rights to the name. This revival saw the launch of Delage Automobiles and the production of the D12, a car that embodies the brand's commitment to luxury and performance.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world's premier motoring events, attracting enthusiasts from far and wide to witness the latest innovations in automotive design and engineering. For Delage, participating in this prestigious event was an opportunity to showcase its rebirth and introduce the D12 to a global audience. The clip provides a unique glimpse into the car's on-track behavior, offering viewers a chance to assess its performance capabilities.

The footage itself is engaging, capturing the excitement of the first laps as the D12 navigates the Goodwood circuit. Although the duration is brief at 2:01, it's sufficient to convey the essence of the event and generate interest in the car. The accompanying YouTube description provides context, highlighting the significance of this moment for Delage Automobiles.

Delage's resurgence is a testament to the enduring appeal of classic French luxury brands. With its rich history and commitment to excellence, the D12 is poised to make waves in the automotive world. This clip serves as a starting point for enthusiasts eager to learn more about the car and its maker. As Delage Automobiles continues on its journey, it's likely that we'll see more of this remarkable vehicle in action.

The revival of Delage is also noteworthy due to its timing. In an era where electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly prominent, the D12 represents a refreshing return to traditional internal combustion engine technology. While EVs have their advantages, there remains a dedicated following for cars that combine performance with a rich history and heritage.

The clip's brevity belies its significance as a milestone in Delage's rebirth. As the brand continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to observe how the D12 adapts to changing market trends while remaining true to its luxurious roots. This footage serves as a reminder that even the most storied brands can experience new beginnings, and we look forward to witnessing what the future holds for Delage Automobiles.
