Sounds of Goodwood 2015
Goodwood at night, and three Porsche race cars fire into life. Between them the 936, 962C and WSC-95 represent some of our 17 victories at Le Mans, but for tonight it's about simple sensations, and the joy of three race-tuned flat sixes splitting the Sussex night. Each of these three cars from the Porsche Museum collection tells a part of our Le Mans story. Twice, in 1997 and 1996, the WSC-95 Spyder raced to victory. Along with its predecessor the 956, the 962 underpinned the Porsche dominance of endurance racing in the 1980s. In 1981, this very 936/81 took the Ickx/Bell driver pairing to their second win. But for tonight, it's about simple sensations: the sight of Porsche race cars being prepared, the smell of oil and fuel, and the sound of three race-tuned flat six engines splitting the Sussex night.
