The new Tesla Roadster demonstrated a reported 0 to 60 miles per hour time of just 0.81 seconds at its world premiere! Tesla also announced a top speed exceeding 230 miles per hour, introducing extraordinary performance technology developed with SpaceX. During the October 15, 2026, presentation at SpaceX's McGregor, Texas facility, Elon Musk and Tesla engineers showcased the next generation Roadster and its remarkable acceleration capabilities. The demonstration included multiple acceleration runs, with Tesla reporting a time of just 0.81 seconds from a standstill to 60 miles per hour. Unlike conventional electric supercars, the new Tesla Roadster uses compressed air thrusters to generate additional propulsion beyond what its electric motors and tires can deliver. Tesla's engineering team discussed a system capable of producing more than 80 kilonewtons of thrust, bringing aerospace technology into the automotive world. The new Roadster also features an advanced active suction system, adjustable aerodynamics, and a rear wing designed to improve stability and handling. Tesla discussed the possibility of cornering forces exceeding 2 G and even more extreme acceleration capabilities for the Rocket version. Another major announcement was the Roadster's claimed top speed of more than 230 miles per hour. Although Tesla did not demonstrate a verified maximum speed run during the premiere, the announcement positions the Roadster among the most ambitious electric performance cars ever presented. In this video, take a closer look at the acceleration demonstration, the top speed announcement, and the engineering behind Tesla's latest electric supercar. The 0.81 second result comes from Tesla's presentation and has not yet been independently verified. What do you think about the new Tesla Roadster?
