Mosler MT900R Race Car at Mugello Circuit: Start Up, Accelerations & OnBoard Sound!

The MT900 was produced by the American company Mosler Automotive from 2001 to 2011, with the MT900R being the racing version. The company was founded in 1985 by Warren Mosler as Consulier Industries and manufactured the Consulier GTP, which was later rebranded and updated as the Mosler Intruder/Raptor when the company spun off its automotive division as Mosler Automotive. The MT900 was designed by Rod Trenne, who previously worked on the Corvette C5 as an engineer for General Motors, with the idea of developing a race car approved for the road. The result was a machine built around a carbon fiber chassis and powered by a mid-mounted GM LS1 engine, from which evolved and improved road versions were derived (MT900S and MT900S Photon). The MT900R made its competition debut at the 2001 24 Hours of Daytona and would be campaigned by a factory Mosler team for the full season of the Grand American Road Racing Championship. The entry finished the year ninth in their class championship. For 2002, the French Perspective Racing team would become the full-season entry in Grand American buying chassis 002, the car you're actually watching in this video. The car showed improvement in performance, finishing the season in fifth place. In 2003 the team managed to win the 24 Hours of Daytona in the GTS class! The MT900R 002 was then brought to Europe where it made its Belcar debut, with the idea of entering it in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Unfortunately the car failed to see the finish line due to gearbox problems. It was the last outing of chassis 002 until 2011, when it was purchased by Javier Morcillo. The Spaniard bought the car and fielded it in some rounds of the Britcar Championship from 2011. The car has recently been completely restored and fitted with a GM LS7 engine. One possible regret enthusiasts might have is that they never saw a Mosler MT900R race at Le Mans. Perspective Racing team tried to get the car homologated but its windshield was judged too narrow to be in conformity with the regulation. Despite repeated requests to Mosler to change the size of the windshield, the modifications were never made. The lack of production Moslers was instead the reason behind the car's failure to be homologated for the GT3 class. The MT900 was allowed into the International GT Open, Australian GT Championship and Belcar series along with the British GT championship, which runs to GT3 rules, but it hasn't been approved for other series.
