Consumer Car with a Jet Engine
This car has a jet engine. It was developed by Chrysler in the 1960’s. When compared against piston engines, turbine engines have fewer moving parts, they run much smoother and they can run on a variety of fuels. Even at a press gala, demonstrators pour in a few ounces of a fancy perfume and changed the exhaust smell. In total 50 cars were produced but not many survived. 9 left and 3 belongs to the Chrysler. The car has top speed of 228 km/h and 0-60 in 12 seconds. But it has its drawbacks. Such as underwhelming fuel mileage around 11 mpg. Also the turbine engine would cost around $16,000 whereas standard V8 engines were going for $5,000. These disadvantages that eventually lead to end of the project.
