Ford Capri | RAF Marham Track Day

First Track Day in the Ford Capri – RAF Marham 27th Sept 2015. Flat out curves, tight twisty sections, and a straight that never seemed to end. It was epic, if I didn’t have a helmet on you could see I was grinning from ear to ear all day whilst hustling the car around the airfield (to the best of my ability). & you know what, the old girl did good! For the most part. It has, however, highlighted some pretty significant problems with the car. First and foremost – the brakes! By the time I started filming they were already junk, they were 90% junk the first time I had to brake sharp from 100mph+. Parking up and letting them cool off after a few laps helped, but they deteriorated rapidly as the day went on. Vented discs may be the way to go. Secondly, 4 speed and 3.77 rear gears does not lend itself to a car that has top end speed, and with the longest straight at Marham in excess of a 1.5 miles, it was flat out well before half way. Still, it gave more time for the brakes to cool down. Thanks to RAF Marham for organising the event, and everyone who took part. & Dale for being a most excellent wingman. ‘Til next time!
