2009 Brawn GP BGP-001 | Classic Car Showcase | U.S.A Hot-lap | F1 2019
2009 Brawn GP BGP-001 hot-lap around U.S.A, F1 2019 on PC Lap time: 1:39.352 2009 Brawn GP BGP-001 Info: Drivers: Jenson Button Rubens Barrichello Engine: Mercedes-Benz FO 108W, 90°, V8 Transmission: Brawn GP 7-Speed semi-automatic Wins: 8 (2009) Poles: 5 (2009) Data: Originally under Honda Racing (who later announced their withdrawal from FORMULA 1) the BGP 001 design was taken over by Ross Brawn, forming Brawn GP. They teamed with Mercedes to supply the engine for the 2009 season, a naturally aspirated V8 as per requirements that year. New rules were introduced in 2009 with regards to aerodynamics, which centred around the size and dimensions of both the front and rear wings. Due to these regulations the team at Brawn GP worked on the rear "double-decker" diffuser, which allowed faster airflow to come from underneath the car, enhancing downforce. This was a controversial design as the FIA received complaints claiming that the design had broken regulations. It was later found to be legal and cleared for use. The BGP 001 had a very successful first half of the 2009 season, but other teams began to catch up later in the year. However Brawn GP still comfortably won the Constructors', with Jenson Button winnning the World Championship. Source: F1 2019 Showroom
