Factory Manual Infiniti J30: The Forgotten Nissan. We took a stock Infiniti J30 and gave it the transmission it always deserved — a factory-correct 5-speed swap. Same color from start to finish, same clean luxury lines, and all OEM parts. The Infiniti J30 was one of the most unique luxury sedans of the 90s — rear-wheel drive, VG30DE power, and a chassis with Nissan performance DNA, but it never received a manual transmission from the factory. This build explores what Infiniti could have released: a factory-correct manual J30 that transforms the driving experience without changing the car’s original look, color, or identity. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is a form of engine and transmission layout used in motor vehicles, in which the engine drives the rear wheels only. Until the late 20th century, rear-wheel drive was the most common configuration for cars. Most rear-wheel drive vehicles feature a longitudinally-mounted engine at the front of the car.
