Before Singer. Before restomods. Before Porsche itself started reinventing the 911, there was RUF! Founded in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, RUF began as a Porsche tuner. But in 1981, everything changed. RUF became a certified manufacturer with its own VIN, no longer modifying 911s, but building its own cars from the ground up. In this episode of 0260 Racelabs, we visit RUF North America for an exclusive look inside one of the most legendary names in performance automotive history. From the BTR and the world-record-setting Yellowbird, to the CTR2 that rivaled the McLaren F1, and finally to the carbon-tub CTR Anniversary — RUF’s evolution mirrors the 911’s, yet goes far beyond it. We explore: • The BTR — the forgotten world’s fastest car (1984) • The CTR “Yellowbird” — world’s fastest production car (1987) • The 964 RCT and integrated roll cage engineering • The 993 Turbo R and BTR2 • The 997-based RT12 and CTR3 • The fully proprietary carbon-fiber CTR Anniversary From body-in-white builds to in-house carbon chassis engineering, this is the story of how RUF quietly reimagined every generation of the Porsche 911 and eventually built something that wasn’t a Porsche at all. If you’re passionate about Porsche 911 history, RUF CTR, Yellowbird, air-cooled performance, and rare German engineering, this episode is for you. Subscribe for weekly deep dives into rare cars, automotive history, and the engineering legends shaping car culture. #RUF #Porsche911 #Yellowbird #CTR #AirCooled #Supercar #GermanEngineering #CarCulture #0260
