Propane vs MAPP Gas Torch Temps

North American
2000s2008Comparisonyoutube

Biggest difference between Propane, MAP/PRO, and MAPP gas is the temperature of the flame and availability. MAPP gas basically went extinct in 2008 when the last North American manufacturer shut down (there are some new alternatives). The Propane and MAP/PRO options can be found at most hardware stores and the MAP/PRO only burns a little bit hotter, so for the every day person just lighting a charcoal BBQ grill, the propane is likely the best cost effective option. If you're trying to heat up rusty nuts and bolts on the regular, I'd reach for the yellow can of MAP/PRO because it'll give you more torch/flame shape options, higher heat, and you can mix it with oxygen to achieve even higher temps (i think it's up to 1500F higher, correct me if I'm wrong) #propane #kingofthehill #gases #propanetank #beavisandbutthead #pioneeraudio #metallicafans #acdcfans #winger #metallica

About This Footage

The clip "Propane vs MAPP Gas Torch Temps" is a fascinating piece of footage that delves into the world of gas torches and their various applications. Released in 2008, this comparison video showcases the differences between propane, MAP/PRO, and MAPP gas, highlighting their unique characteristics and uses.

One of the most notable aspects of this clip is its relevance to automotive enthusiasts who work on their own vehicles. The discussion around the temperature of the flame produced by each type of gas is particularly interesting, as it has a direct impact on the effectiveness of tasks such as heating up rusty nuts and bolts. For those who regularly perform maintenance or repairs on their cars, the ability to achieve higher temperatures with MAP/PRO gas could be a game-changer.

The fact that MAPP gas was largely phased out in 2008 due to the shutdown of its North American manufacturer adds an interesting historical context to this footage. The emergence of new alternatives has certainly changed the landscape, but it's intriguing to see how the industry responded to this shift. This clip serves as a snapshot of the time, providing insight into the choices and considerations that were relevant at the moment.

From a purely practical perspective, the comparison between propane and MAP/PRO gas is also noteworthy. The video highlights the cost-effectiveness of propane for everyday tasks such as lighting charcoal BBQ grills, while acknowledging that MAP/PRO offers more options and higher heat when mixed with oxygen. This information can be invaluable to those who frequently use gas torches in their work or hobbies.

It's worth noting that the clip's tone is informative rather than promotional, with a focus on presenting facts and comparisons rather than advocating for one product over another. The inclusion of specific temperature ranges and flame characteristics adds a level of detail that makes this footage particularly useful for those looking to make informed decisions about their gas torch needs.

In terms of its place within the broader context of automotive culture, this clip may not be directly related to cars themselves, but it does touch on the intersection of DIY repair work and the tools used in that process. For enthusiasts who value self-sufficiency and hands-on knowledge, understanding the differences between various gas types can be an important aspect of their hobby.

Overall, "Propane vs MAPP Gas Torch Temps" is a unique and informative piece of footage that offers insights into the world of gas torches and their applications. Its historical significance, practical relevance, and attention to detail make it a valuable resource for those interested in DIY repair work or simply looking to learn more about this fascinating topic.
