Why Ford Never Built the V10 Shelby Cobra Concept...
The Ford Shelby Cobra Concept is one of the wildest modern interpretations of a classic American sports car. Revealed at the North American International Auto Show, this one-off concept reimagined the legendary AC Cobra for the 21st century. Powered by a monstrous 6.4-litre all-aluminum V10, the Cobra Concept produced around 645 horsepower, delivering the classic Shelby formula: a massive engine in a lightweight roadster. Built in just five months by Ford’s Advanced Product Creation team, the concept combined retro Cobra design cues with modern engineering. Its chassis and suspension borrowed heavily from the Ford GT, creating an incredibly compact yet brutally powerful machine. Despite huge interest, the car never reached production, leaving the Shelby Cobra Concept as a one-off vision of what a modern Cobra could have been. In this video I explore the design, engineering, and legacy of this incredible concept car, and why it remains one of the most fascinating Shelby creations ever built.
