Today, we’re diving into one of the most original surviving Ferrari 512 Ms—chassis 1018. A true legend of endurance racing, this car competed twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 and 1971 with the famed Gelo Racing Team, taking on the dominance of Porsche in the golden era of sports car racing. Originally configured as one of 25 Ferrari 512 S cars in 1970, it was upgraded to the more powerful and aerodynamic ‘M’ specification by the Ferrari factory in 1971. Of the 25 Ferrari 512 S cars built, only 15 were upgraded to M specification and chassis 1018 is an exceptional example of Ferrari’s ultimate Group 5 competition machine. Following the end of its racing days in October 1971, the car spent its life in the very best hands possible, benefitting from long-term ownership with two of the world’s finest Ferrari collectors who truly understood the importance of maintaining the car’s originality. Upon our acquisition in March 2023, we immediately entrusted the car to renowned Ferrari specialists, Autofficina Bonini. The remit we gave Bonini was to carry out a ‘preservation restoration’ to ensure this originality was protected for future generations, whilst also breathing a new lease of life into the car. It is Ferrari ‘Red Book’ Classiche certified, confirming it still retains its original chassis, body, engine and gearbox, which is something quite remarkable for a race car that competed in the likes of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in period. Currently located in Switzerland with Swiss taxes paid, this incredible machine is eligible for historic events such as the Le Mans Classic and the Masters Historic Racing series. Join us as we take a closer look at this legendary Ferrari and take it for an exhilarating spin! ID:SZ3VPFLOKNXHXWQL

Several 512S were entered in the 1970 Interna...
