Driving the Messerschmitt for Drive It Day. Drive It Day is an annual event where owners of classic vehicles around the UK take their machines out to mark the occasion. Some owners attend formal gatherings or meet up in pubs or cafes. Many people simply take the opportunity to blow the winter cob webs away and enjoy a drive out. Launched in 2005, the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs wanted to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial which first took place in 1900. This was to prove the usefulness as motor vehicles as transport. Drive It Day also raises awareness of the historic vehicle movement and support from the general public.
