Here's my 2000 Ford AU Falcon Series 2 Forté. Started up after sitting a week, it has a full stainless cat-back exhaust system. This is the basic Forté (strong) model with a reputation for being bulletproof, it has the base 'Intech' 4.0L SOHC inline 6 putting out 157kW (211hp) power and 357Nm torque, mated to a 4 speed BTR transmission, and driving the rear wheels through a 3.08:1 live axle solid diff with a Watt's Link. Being the base model it also has the most basic interior and option pack available, although being the Series 2 (2000-2002) it added front power windows, cruise control and air conditioning as standard over the Series 1 (1998-2000) where they were all added options. It still has no ABS or traction control which were available on the Futura, Fairmont, and XR6/XR8 models, making it quite a handful in wet or icy weather. Factory options on this car are: • Genuine Smart Bar (bullbar) • Heavy duty 3mm sump guard • CD and cassette deck (replaced) I bought this car mid 2012 with 110,000km and full service history, and is up to just over 326,000km at the time of the video on all original running gear maintained by myself. Modifications I've added are: • 30mm raised and stiffened King Springs • Gabriel Ultra shocks • Full Stainless Steel DEA cat-back exhaust system • Roof racks and luggage basket • 60W LED light bar, LED indicators, 2x 100W halogen spotlights, and fly net to the bullbar • Bluetooth head unit with microphone • Falcon Ute hubcaps with chrome lug nuts This car has seen a fair bit of abuse, rough driving and unsealed roads and travelled on every mainland Australian state and territory and the KMs continue to climb. The only thing that needs replacing are the front suspension bushes and shocks (corrugated desert roads in NT didn't help) but is still only a very mild and almost unnoticeable issue. I plan on keeping it as long as possible and travel as many KMs as possible on as many original parts as possible! These basic AUs are the very last of their kind!
