The Ferrari 288 GTO gets a modern heart! In this episode, the Kindig-it Design team faces the massive challenge of fitting a modern Ferrari 458 engine into the classic lines of a 288 GTO body. From custom intake manifold fabrication to complex aluminum cooling systems, this exotic car restoration pushes our fabrication skills to the limit. What’s in this episode: Engine Mockup & Clearance: We tackle the 6-inch height difference between the modern 458 engine and the original 288 GTO deck lid. Custom Intake Fabrication: Watch as we cut, re-orient, and TIG weld a custom aluminum intake plenum to clear the rear glass while maintaining performance. Aluminum Cooling Lines: We re-engineer the entire cooling system, running custom-bent aluminum hard lines from the front-mounted radiator to the mid-engine 458 power plant.
