After a little over 4 years, the Buick is finally restored and licensed. Canadian Buick McLaughlin. It was originally ordered by a Papua New Guinean diplomat in 1936, but was onsold to a New South Wales Australian, hence the factory right hand drive. I purchased this car on 17th January 2013 from the guy who bought it from the son of the original owner. So I'm the 4th owner. RESTORED WAS.... ~ Engine. A complete rebuild wasn't necessary. Minor work was done; a new push rod, new gaskets as required, new oil, new paint, new plugs. Purrs like a kitten. ~ Distributor. Completely replaced with new reproduction parts. ~ Master cylinder and brakes. Completely replaced with new reproduction parts. ~ Original radiator. Completely rebuilt. New hoses. ~ Suspension and related parts. Totally rebuilt as required with new reproduction parts including engine mounts & shockies that were sent to the US for a total rebuild. ~ Starter motor. Performance checked and repainted. ~ Steering box. A complete rebuild wasn't necessary. Repainted. ~ Coil. Replaced. ~ Carburetor. Totally rebuilt with new reproduction parts. ~ New reproduction wipers with original rebuilt motor. ~ Original horns and air filter were missing. All were found on eBay, then restored & fitted. ~ Car is totally rewired. ~ Brand New tyres. ~ New paint inside and out. Exterior colour is a 1936 GM colour that was matched to the original. ~ New leather seating & inner side panels. ~ New ceiling lining to match original to as close as possible ( ~ 90% ). ~ New carpet. ~ Trunk completely reupholstered. ~ Newly chromed everything... handles & winders, dash and all internal & external parts such as dash, bumpers, grille etc. ~ New rubbers. ~ Dented and gouged hub caps restored and rechromed. ~ Rotten inner timbers redone. Apart from my own minor tinkering, all work was carried out by professional car restorers.
