In this week’s episode, we bring new life to an old friend — a 2003 Land Rover Freelander 1 TD4 with the trusty BMW engine and an impressive 265,000 km on the clock. This car holds a special place in our hearts, as Vera drove it for 10 (!) years, so when it failed its MOT (or TÜV, as we say in Germany), we couldn’t let it head to the scrapyard.
The Freelander’s new owner asked for our help, and we couldn’t resist giving this tough little SUV another chance at life. Over one weekend and three long evenings, we tackled several tricky repairs, including:
Replacing the clutch
Repairing the rear differential mounts, a common issue with these cars.
Resolving a stubborn EGR problem, which proved to be quite the challenge!
