Ed Schmidt consolidating
A local auto dealer is consolidating its operations. Ed Schmidt is closing its Maumee location and moving business to its dealership in Perrysburg. That means, the used car lot and Hummer lot will also be relocated and some jobs could be lost. The dealership says in the current market a single-focused location will better serve customers in Northwest Ohio. Also, Ed Schmidt has signed dealership agreements with two Chinese automakers -- Brillance and Shuanghuan Noble. "There are no Chinese vehicles sold here at the present time," said Greg Goatley, Ed Schmidt Automotive General Manager. "we will have the first one in Northwest Ohio. It's a unique vehicle, their design is a little bit different." The Chinese-made Noble is similar to the Smart Car and it's expected to arrive at the dealership within the next 60 days. Brillance will be on the lot sometime by thr end of summer 2010.
