For the 2021 season DTM is no more adopting the Class 1 touring/silhouette racing cars but instead a GT3-class based formula as part of a cost-efficiency programme, trying to attract more private teams and manufacturers to join the series. The 2021 Championship will start from Monza in a couple of weeks and as I suspected, some teams would come to try the track before the Italian round especially to see how the cars perform with DTM's own BoP system (Balance of Performance). In fact, in order to differentiate their championship from any other that uses GT3-class cars, DTM's goal is to create the fastest GT3 series in the World, decreasing the use of air-intake restrictors and ballast. It is understood that last April, during a collective test in Hockeneim, Mercedes was running the engine restrictor at minimal levels, while Audi had no restrictor at all in its quartet of R8 LMS GT3s. This video is about some DTM 2021 teams I recently recorded testing at Monza Circuit during a track day organized by Gedlich Racing some days ago. 95% of the video is composed by footage I took during this occasion. There are also a few clips of the number 8 and naked carbon Mercedes AMG GT3 of Team GruppeM Racing, but these were from the end of April during a Kateyama test day. The cars and teams you see in this video are: - Abt Sportsline - Audi R8 LMS GT3 2019 (No. 3 / 9 / 99) - AlphaTauri AF Corse - Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 (No. 23) - HTP Winward Motorsport - Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo (No. 57) - GruppeM Racing - Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo (No. 8) - Mücke Motorsport - Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo (No. 18) - T3 Motorsport - Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo (No. 21 full black carbon) - Team Rosberg - Audi R8 LMS GT3 2019 (No. 51) (In the video there are two clips of T3 Motorsport's Huracan GT3 number 71. That's their car for the ADAC GT Masters and not the one they'll use in DTM which is the full black carbon, with the little number 21. Sorry for the mistake). Talking about lap times, unfortunately not all teams wanted their times showed on Monza's live timing and curiously they were all Audi's ones, later joined by AlphaTauri AF Corse too (even if for the first three test sessions they were written on the system). After two days of testing, the 'official' best lap was set by T3 Motorsport Huracan: a 1'44''743, which is quite insane thinking it was ''just'' testing but maybe they tried a qualifying simulation. The Ferrari (not sure it was actually Alexander Albon driving) did a 1'45''727 during the morning of the very first day so times have certainly further improved. The Mercedes were all in the 46'' but maybe they were following a different testing programme. In terms of top speeds, I compared them with some rounds with GT3 cars from last year and in general DTM cars are between 5 and 10 km/h faster on Monza's main straight compared to qualifying data of championships with more 'aggressive' BoP. For the 2021 season besides Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes there will also be some teams using BMWs (M6 GT3) and McLaren too (720S GT3). #DTM #DTM2021 #DTM2021Monza ---------------------------------------------------------------- -- Subscribe to my 2nd channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3XVG02cKYsLyUUewv-qkoQ You can also find and follow me on: - Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19bozzy92/ - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/19Bozzy92YT - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ste19bozzy92/ Camcorder: Canon Legria GX10 + Canon DM-100 Microphone Event: Kateyama Test Day 2021 & Track Day by Gedlich Racing 2021 Where: Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy Link To My Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/19Bozzy92 THANKS FOR WATCHING AND SUBSCRIBE!!!
