Fun Fact : The Aurus Senat is a full size Russian made luxury car from a Russian Automaker Aurus Motors ,developed by the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automobile Engines Institute or in short NAMI which is stated run in Moscow. The Aurus Senat is a retro style inspired by a 1945 Soviet luxury car called the ZIS-110 ,that used to carry high officials during the Soviet Union. It was first shown as a limousine during the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin Presidential Inauguration in 2018. In that same year it was showcased at the Moscow International Automobile Salon. At the time Aurus Motors was a new company that only made cars for the Russian Motorcade, the cars were part of a series called the "Kortezh". The civilian version was a joint venture between NAMI and LiAZ firms. The development and design of the Aurus Senat began in 2013 . Its goal was to replace the Mercedes Benz S600 Pullman Guard, the presidental vehicle used by the former President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev and then the current president Valdmir Putin. The Senat came in 3 variants, a 4 door sedan, 2 door convertible and an armoured 4 door limousine for the President. Others cars beside the Senat are a van called the Arsenal and an SUV called the Komendant.Also part of the "Kortezh" series. In 2019 , the Russian Ministry of Trade went to the UAE to promote the car, a UAE company called Tawazun Holdings ,they invested 36% of the share of the company and the majority of market share( 63,5%) is by NAMI and the remaning 0,5% is to Sollers JSC. The Senat was primarily sold in Russia but was also exported to countries like the UAE and China.The Aurus Senat was Russia's answer to Western luxury cars like the Rolls Royce Ghost or Phantom and Mercedes Benz S Class. The Senat was a luxury of their own , many high officials have ditched their Rolls Royce and Mercedes Benz for these cars. Its engine is a joint venture between NAMI and Porsche, a hybrid drive system with a 4,4 liter twin turbo V8 engine and an electric motor producing 440 kW and 889 Nm of torque paired standard with a 9 speed automatic gearbox. 0 to 100 in 6 seconds and top speed of 249 km/h or 155 mph. The starting price for an Aurus Senat is 24 million Russian Rubles or 4,7 million ZAR. In February 2024, President Putin went on a state visit to North Korea and gifted the car to the Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un despite UN sanctions towards North Korea and paraded it on North Korean State TV.
