It all started in 1985, when Honda engineers went to study the Dakar Rally. The goal? Build a bike that could cruise over 160 km/h and go 450 km on a single tank. The result: the NXR750 — a purpose-built rally machine that won Paris-Dakar 4 years in a row (1986–1989). That legacy led to the first production Africa Twin: the XRV650, built by Honda Racing Corporation in limited numbers. In 1990 came the XRV750 — the most iconic version, refined over the years until it was discontinued in 2003. In 2016, the Africa Twin was reborn with a parallel twin and DCT.
