The Beauty of Basic Transportation: Roewe i5
As automotive enthusiasts, we often get wrapped up in conversations about million-dollar hypercars, and tend to ignore the fact that a vast majority of people will never even see one of those cars, let alone own one. No, what people around the world need isn’t cars with interiors made from the skin of extinct animals or engines with more horsepower than a cruise ship, they need honest, cheap transportation. Thankfully, the vehicle we’ll be driving today is a textbook example of just that, the Rongwe i5. Correction: It looks like some footage of the Chinese market VW Lamando managed to sneak its way into this video during the editing process! Sorry about that, and we’ll try to do better next time. About Roewe
Roewe (Chinese: 荣威; pinyin: Róngwēi) is an automotive brand owned by the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor since 2006. Roewe vehicles were initially based on technology acquired from defunct British carmaker MG Rover. SAIC was unable to purchase the rights to the Rover brand name (which was retained by BMW, subsequently sold to Ford and ultimately returned to Jaguar Land Rover) and created the Roewe marque as a replacement.
