BMW G650X Clutch Cover

The 2007 BMW G650X motorcycles - XChallenge and XCountry have a known problem with the clutch cover. There is a recessed dead end hole in the cover that the end of the clutch throwout rod (or rack) goes into (the rack part of "rack and pinion"). Since the 07 cover is a soft magnesium/aluminum composite, the steel rack would wear down the hole in the cover causing various problems preventing the clutch throwout from disengaging the clutch properly. If you look closely at the initial still picture in this video you can see a light colored wear spot in the left side of the hole, recessed in the hole. Using digital calipers I was unable to accurately measure that the hole was out of round by much, as the worn spot is deep in the hole. However with the throwout rack removed from the clutch and then inserting it into the hole and wiggling it, the video easily shows the different between the 07 worn cover first (with 20,000 miles on it - I actually have a Rekluse clutch) and later in the video with a brand new 09 replacement cover (BMW P/N 11147700331). You will also need 2 needle bearings to press into the new cover at a minimum. These are available from Amazon or BMW will have to order them from Germany. snooker on ADV
