Werner Bauer, Head of project, BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Answer to the question: What is special about the BMW ActiveHybrid 7? W.B.: "The BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is based on the BMW 750i, which is already a very efficient car, and it adds a hybrid power train, combining the powerful V8 with an electric motor. It ends up with a fuel economy improvement of about 15 percent - with better performance than the base vehicle 750i - and as a result, it is just fun to drive. It's the most dynamic hybrid in the market." Answer to the question: Why do you launch a 7 Series Hybrid now? W.B.: "After the implementation of EfficientDynamics measures over the whole BMW fleet, it is now the logical time to implement ActiveHybrid as the next step of efficiency measures." Answer to the question: Why do you offer a different concept with the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 compared to the BMW ActiveHybrid X6? W.B.: "BMW always offers tailor-made solutions for different model ranges, and the analysis and the considerations we took, led us the concept we show in the ActiveHybrid 7." Answer to the question: Why do you offer a V8 hybrid? W.B.: "The V8 is a very important power train in some of our key markets, in most important key markets, and so it's a logical choice to go with the V8 and it's fun to drive!" Answer to the question: What is the additional weight of the hybrid components? W.B.: "The lithium-ion battery, the electric motor and the electronics add up about 100 kilograms to the weight of the vehicle."
