In the 1950's the alliance between Bertone and Alfa Romeo create some cutting edge designs called the Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica or BAT Concept Cars. Dr. Gary Kaberle just happened to buy one of these amazing concepts as a teenager in 1963 from a Fiat car dealership. The BAT 9 was built in 1955 as a test vehicle that would test the limits of automotive aerodynamics. Dr. Kaberle had to sell his BAT car for personal reasons but now he has returned with a concept all his own. Over 15 years, Dr. Kaberle worked on a concept car that was reminiscent of the Bat cars from Bertone back in the 1950's. Bertone likes the new design so much they featured the concept at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show under the model name Alfa Romeo BAT 11dk. The car became the concept of the year and helped Bertone escape bankruptcy and remains an automotive design company. Dr. Kaberle's goal is to get the Bat concept running and sell it for breast cancer research in memory of his wife.
