This became the 351 4V in 1972 because Ford retarded the valve timing 4 degrees to meet emissions. This engine was removed from production after 1974. R Code was a 351 Cleveland High Performance. In 1971 the Boss 351 was introduced. Like the Boss 302 before it the Boss 351 had a mechanical cam and higher compression. In 1972 the Boss became the HO due to the same cam restrictions of the 351 CJ and a drop in compression to 9.7:1.
