Ford's switch to electric vehicle production in Germany threatens 3200 employment at Cologne factory According to rumours quoting the company's employees' council, Ford Motor Co aims to eliminate up to 3,200 positions at its manufacturing in Cologne. Video taken on Tuesday, following the announcement of significant job layoffs as a result of a change in Ford's production strategy for its electric vehicles—the firm intends to sell entirely electric vehicles in the EU by 2030—shows the main offices in Cologne. Cost-cutting measures have already been implemented for Ford employees in Germany. Most recently, 5,400 jobs were lost in Germany in 2020. According to the works council, US automaker Ford planned to make significant employment layoffs at its Cologne facility, according to local media.
