1902 CAR OPENS WHITCHURCH BRIDGE
David Card's beautiful 1902 De Dion Bouton car was invited to be the first car across the rebuilt Whitchurch Bridge. Among those on board were the shareholder of the Whitchurch Tollbridge Company and Nigel Grove who has crossed the bridge 20,000 times since he moved to the village in 1963. The choice of the car was no accident since it was built in the same year the iron bridge from which the renewed bridge was reconstructed was built.
