Road trip across Germany in the new BMW iX3

We take the new BMW iX3 on a long-distance road trip from Western Germany to Berlin. We test its real-world range and charging speed. Navigation & Parking: The car efficiently calculates routes, including necessary charging stops *Driving Experience: We discuss the driving smoothness, noting that while the suspension is slightly sporty, the car offers a feeling of unity between the driver and the vehicle. The advanced assistance systems, including the hands-free Autobahn assistant, are described as industry-leading and highly sophisticated. *Charging Test: At a 400 kW charging station, the iX3 demonstrates impressive capability, reaching a peak charge of 400 kW and maintaining high charging speeds, making stops feel comparable to refueling a combustion engine. *Efficiency & Range: Following the Berlin arrival, we analyze the significant impact of 20-inch aero wheels on energy efficiency compared to 22-inch wheels. We successfully completed a return trip with very high efficiency, averaging 18 kWh/100 km. Final Thoughts: The review concludes with suggestions for improvement, such as the need for a 360-degree camera, seat ventilation, and a more robust front hood design at high speeds.
