The Devel Sixteen is a prototype hypercar made in the United Arab Emirates by Devel Motors in cooperation with American and Italian engineers. According to Devel Motors, three models of the Sixteen were planned to create: A base model has a V8 engine, set to about 1,500[3] or 2,000 horsepower. A street-legal with V16 engine, set to about 3,000 horsepower. And a track-only version with V16 engine and a quad turbo, set to 5,007 horsepower and 3,757 pound-feet (5,094 N⋅m) of torque. The Devel Sixteen hypercar has reached internet fame as – at least to some – the quintessential piece of automotive vaporware: jaw-droppingly fast, insanely expensive but destined to never actually enter existence. However, the doubters in Canada (and, we guess, the U.S.) will soon have a chance to lay their eyes on the $2.2-million vehicle as it makes its North American debut at the Toronto auto show in February. The French inventor Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built the first steam-powered road vehicle in 1769, while the Swiss inventor François Isaac de Rivaz designed and constructed the first internal combustion-powered automobile in 1808. The mode...
