고농도 미세먼지 발생하면 수도권 차량 2부제 Starting next year, when levels of fine dust in the air reach unhealthy levels, government offices and other public institutions will have employees leave their personal cars at home on an alternating basis... to help clear the air. Public construction sites and factories will slow down production. The Ministry of Environment said today the system will go into effect on a trial basis in the Seoul metropolitan area at around 630 publicly-run workplaces, and the plan is to gradually expand it nationwide by 2020. On days when fine dust levels reach certain levels, the environment ministry will in the evening instruct the relevant organizations to put the measures in place the following morning. If the dust doesn't clear sufficiently, it can be extended to the next day. Based on the standards set by the ministry, last year there was just one day when the dust was bad enough to send out the alert.
