This is the tenth installment in a project to reupholster the original cracked leather dashboard, center console, and instrument pod in "Risky Business," our $4,000 1985 Porsche 928S project car. The challenge is to get all of this done in time to have the car back together and properly sorted in time to attend our local get-together on "928 Day," quickly coming up at the end of September. In this episode, Rudy shows what he did to thoroughly clean each console component using his new replacement steam cleaner, as well as making an assessment of what components need replacement. Unfortunately, the project's cost continues to rise as the need for a replacement cabin temperature sensor, A/C switch, and a new Blaupunkt radio totaled nearly $1,200 when added to the $240 cost of the replacement leather skin.
