We had this 2013 Honda Mobilio visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service, along with a concern that the engine performance wasn’t smooth enough as it should be and it was only found deteriorating overtime. With the car having clocked over 156k kilometres and as the car hadn’t been serviced over a long period of time, the car owner wanted to ensure the car is thoroughly serviced and hence reached out to us for assistance. Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, there were no major concerns as such observed in the car. However, as the car had clocked over 100k+ kilometres, it was noticed that the timing kit of the car had never been replaced in the past, due to which the timing chain had developed a slight slack, thus deteriorating the overall performance. As a preventive measure the entire timing kit required replacement, considering the car’s overall mileage distance covered. A broken timing chain will cause an engine to not start or fail while driving. If the belt is already broken, the engine won't have enough compression to start. If it breaks or jumps while driving, the pistons will be damaged from contact with the valves. The valves themselves will bend and potentially ruin the engine. *Symptoms of a faulty timing kit: - Misfiring engine - Rough idling - Excess smoke from exhaust - Drop in oil pressure *Solution: - The entire old timing kit was dismantled and replaced with a new timing kit - Annual service was performed
