Why the US didn’t build a truck like the MAZ 537?

youtube

Why the US didn’t build a truck like the MAZ 537? Inside the cavernous assembly hall of the Minsk Automobile Plant, welders spray sparks across a chassis that dwarfs anything the facility has produced before. The MAZ-five thirty-seven is taking shape. Eight massive wheels, each nearly as tall as a man. A cab fortified like a bunker. And beneath the hood, a thirty-eight point eight-liter V-twelve diesel engine derived from Soviet tank engine designs, generating five hundred twenty-five horsepower of raw pulling power.
