Chief designer Koji Sato explains how Japanese traditions of quality finishing have given the LC 500h a luxurious feel, as every detail from the stitching to the steering wheel reflects expert craftsmanship. This new luxury sports car promises ultimate agility and a timeless aesthetic. First revealed by Akio Toyoda at the 2016 North America International Auto Show, the styling, performance and craftsmanship of the Lexus LC 500h position it as the flagship coupe of the Lexus line-up. Inspired by the acclaimed LF-LC concept which debuted in 2012, the LC represents a shift in Lexus’ engineering processes and design direction, and marks the beginning of a new phase for Lexus. Combining avant-garde elegance with dynamic coupe proportions, the seductive form of the new LC 500h remains true to the key design elements and visual dynamism of the award-winning LF-LC concept car that inspired it. It also features the world’s first Multi Stage Hybrid System, the next generation of hybrid powertrains specifically designed for performance vehicles. The steering wheel in the LC 500h has been particularly praised, as a Takumi master driver helped define the best possible shape for the wheel, continuing to refine and improve on its design right to the point of production. It is this kind of dedication and detail that gives this model its magnificent appearance and performance.
