H2ME2 - 2 Honda Clarity FCEVs were handed over to WaterstofNet

As part of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership funded project H2ME2, Honda R&D Europe invited WaterstofNet to test two Honda Clarity fuel cell electric vehicles in 2022. WaterstofNet will use these data-monitored vehicles in their daily work. For the handover of the keys, they travelled to Offenbach and drove the cars to the operational sites in the Benelux. Watch their journey and first impressions of the vehicles and the hydrogen refuelling infrastructure. WaterstofNet will gather real life and operational data for Honda R&D Europe within the framework of the H2ME2 project. Both vehicles will be driven under everyday conditions to demonstrate the feasibility of hydrogen vehicles, gather insights and experience, and generate data. In Europe, Honda R&D operates a total of 10 Honda Clarity fuel cell electric vehicles and can draw on the experience of numerous vehicles in use in Japan and California and thus generate lessons learned to foster the market ramp up. Within the H2ME2 project WaterstofNet is the Benelux coalition leader, the observer country coordinator and supports the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. Hydrogen Mobility Europe 2  The H2ME2 project started in May 2016 and is built on the expertise and experience of the predecessor H2ME1 project. It will significantly expand the European hydrogen vehicles fleet and in doing so, aims to confirm the technical and commercial readiness of vehicles, refuelling stations and hydrogen production techniques. With its more than 1.100 cars, vans and trucks and 20 HRS H2ME2 will produce recommendations and identify any gaps that may prevent full commercialisation, as well as collecting results to support future investments. Together the H2ME1 and H2ME2 projects demonstrate the breadth and depth of the commitment to hydrogen-fuelled road transport as a pan-European solution to the need to have viable, competitive, alternatives to fossil fuels. The projects H2ME and H2ME2 have received funding from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership (previously Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking) under grant agreement No 671438 and No 700350. This Joint Undertaking receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Hydrogen Europe Research and Hydrogen Europe.
